Today in Miami

I’m watching the teevee to see if anything significant happens. It appears there’s not a huge crowd at the Miami courthouse, and they’re milling around waving flags. Trump is in the courthouse getting processed. I take it there are no cameras allowed inside and that reporters in the building are now allowed “devices,” so they can’t communicate.

  1. Reporters are considered devices?  In the case of the MSM today, tools would be a better word.

  2. The tide is turning. Koch Bros begin ads targeting Trump, “Trump Can’t Win”. At first a trickle of defectors, then a rush to the exits.

Governor Newsom went on Hannity. Newsom is a numbers nerd, and buried Hannity with data. Kind of the wrong way to reach Hannity’s audience (maybe), but he’s got guts. Here, here and here.

    • Good observation.  The propaganda worm has turned.  I noticed last week in the tabloid section of the grocery store the National Enquirer was running a big headline unfavorable to Trump.  Rupert put a big sock in Tucker's mouth.  So many signs.

  3. I didn't spot and 'keepers' of 'oaths.'

Or any mentally deficient, incel 'boys' who, for no discernable reason anyone can tell, have over-inflated senses of 'pride.'

I did spot plenty of MAGAts, though.

    But this is Miami.

In Northern cities we get roaches.

I guess maybe in Southern cities, the MAGAts out number the roaches.

    At least in the daytime.

  4. Of those who showed up in Miami, how many are retirees? As someone pointed out on another thread, most people have jobs to go to.. And I have to believe that the thrill of being in the Insurrection Choir has lost some its appeal.

  5. I think it's important that nothing happened – in terms of violence in Miami. One lone wolf might break the trend but at the moment there is a trend almost 30 months long. Since J6, the "militias" haven't taken up arms.

IMO, much of this has to do with the prosecution of the J6 insurrectionists and rioters. People from all over the US were identified, charged, and either they copped a plea or they were convicted. The process is ongoing – still lots of cases to be resolved. Many of the 'casual' J6 Trumpsters who haven't settled their cases have lost jobs, and otherwise been penalized.  Nailing the top thugs with the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers took the entire movement down.

The right-wing media have vastly exaggerated how badly the J6 criminals have been treated. Only the most violent were detained w/out bail but that's not how Trumpsters are hearing the story. Which makes them wary of showing up on FBI radar. Scare tactics by their media have inhibited crossing the line. I'm not suggesting there are guarantees – but 30 months is long enough to call a trend.

DOJ did not ask for Trump's passport and they did (I think) suggest they don't consider Trump a flight risk. TODAY, I agree he's not gonna fly to Moscow. From the day Trump is convicted, he IS a flight risk. Trump actually thinks Biden engineered this because it's what Trump would do (and wanted to do with HRC but neither A/G would arrest her without a strong criminal case. That's from Trump's former Chief of Staff, as I recall.)

The game pivots to motions and deadlines. WHO will be the judge?
