Thanks for Arlo. That was a real upper in these trumperist times. if there is one. I have had to come to the realization that there isn’t any country that will have me, being old and poor and all–never mind the rest. I’m just stuck here, love this country as I do. these next years are gonna be horrible, but possibly interesting, as in the old Chinese curse–“May you live in interesting times”. Karma has come home to bite us all in the butt.
I wrote a long winded lament that spun off of buddhasteps’ comment. But, I decided that where I needed to write it for catharsis, it was unfair and unwise to inflict it on the Maha community. It’s a lot better to keep our spirits up (thanks, Doug) and to keep ourselves busy doing what good we can.
Although, I have to admit, we had been toying with the idea of expatriating for some time, not so much to escape, but to have one last big adventure. I started doing major work on our house, and the idea of staying was started to be more tolerable. Now, I am not so sure.
Happy Thanksgiving, all!
For those of us who remember this Thanksgiving classic by Arlo Guthrie on ‘Nam and the draft, here’s hping for a Thanksgiving that can’t be beat:
