"Barbara O’Brien’s wide-ranging account of Zen history is conveyed with a master storyteller’s ability to keep the forest from getting lost in a myriad of trees. Wearing her scholarship lightly, she blends just the right amount of skepticism about her hagiographic sources with a deep appreciation for the Dharma." — Barry Magid, author of

Oh noe, say it isn’t so! They don’t make scandals the way they used to. When I was a boy we had real scandals.. Christine Keeler type scandals, good hard core scandals where administrations or cabinets could fall apart as a result of them. Those were the days. None of this mamby pamby lighter than air Benghazi stuff that they are trying to foist on us.
Here they’re kicking around the “I” word before this supposed scandal even gets any traction. Makes you long for the good old days!

Don’t you worry Reich-wingers, Cup O’ Schmoe’s on it this morning on MSNBC.
I tuned that idiot’s show, and he’ now banging that IRS drum – and, NOT slowly.
And I understand it (just NOT on MSNBC). Referring back to Baseball: If you lost your fastball, you need to keep going with your ‘curveball (like in Iraq)’, slider (IRS), change-up (AP), knuckleball (who the feck knows, yet), knuckle-curve, cutter, or splitter.
Personally, I’d eliminate the tax exempt status of EVERY group – including (or especially) churches.
And only give it back to those that could prove they were really involved in the ‘welfare’ of ‘society’ – meaning helping other people, and not proselytizing their religion, or trying to get religious maniacs elected into office.
Someone — we don’t know who — leaked misleading information to ABC and the Weekly Standard, they ran it, other news organizations embraced it, we’ve had several days of “scandal” based on it, and the information wasn’t true?
Dan Rather and the fake letter re Dubya’s reservist absences; Newsweek and a fake story involving American soldiers desecrating a copy of the Koran. (In those instances, info meant to be revealed as false, and thus discredit the Bush-critical news entities.)
Somewhere in their dank cave, Shelob Rove’s foul offspring are still spinning webs? It certainly reeks of them, anyway.

Amen!
