A significant portion of the seed money that created Mitt Romney’s private equity firm, Bain Capital, was provided by wealthy oligarchs from El Salvador, including members of a family with a relative who allegedly financed rightist groups that used death squads during the country’s bloody civil war in the 1980s
But, y’know, the world turns round and round. Once upon a time money went from U.S. taxpayers to the Reagan Administration, which sent it to the right-wing government in El Salvador, which used it to form death squads, which terrorized the country, so the wealthy oligarchs had to find a safe place to dump their money. So they unloaded several million into Bain capital, and Mittens made several fortunes, and now he’s tapping on some of that wealth to run for President. Ain’t capitalism grand?
Also — in the New York Times, Michael Shear writes that Romney’s wealth was not an issue in 2008. Now it is. The times, are they a-changin’?
Iran-Contra-Bain.
Arms and missiles sold to the Mullah’s.
The money going to South and Central America for reactionary terrorists and repressive regimes.
And that money laundered through Noriega’s cocaine connections from there into the inner cities of the US via the crack epidemic.
And companies like Bain, and people like Mitt, making the money.
And back again and again, for another cycle of murder, profits, terrorism, drug-dealing, and authoritarianism.
F*CKING PERFECT!
And if you could tie it all together, you’d be a dead man/woman.
Like Sgt. Schultz – “Uhm… I know nothing, NOTHING!”
Before the primaries, I just took Mitt to be an schmuck. How wrong I was! A corrupt, oligarchical schmuck. Some people should not stray too far from “quiet rooms”.
If nothing else, the language of the 99% has actually taken hold. You hear REPUBLICANS calling Mitt part of the 1%. And it’s sticking. Newtie running the Bain commercial was devastating for the Mittster. And now we see that the money was coming from the 1% of another country that also sponsored ‘death squads’. You can’t make this shit up. I thought Romney was a shoe-in, that eventually the Repugs would get around to nominating the only guy who has a chance against Obama. But they’ve bloodied him so bad I don’t think even Mittens has a chance now.
Popcorn please.
