With apologies to the families of both people who died in the shooting at Ohio State this afternoon —
The campus police said that they believed the gunman, who arrived carrying two handguns, may have been disgruntled about a poor work evaluation.
Rightie translation: He was unhinged over labor issues and therefore a Leftie.
The shooting comes as state legislatures are debating whether to ban guns on college campuses. … Twenty six states, including Ohio, forbid guns on college campuses …
Brace yourself for a solid week of screaming nonsense about how if workers/students at Ohio State could carry concealed weapons, a shooting like today’s could not possibly ever happen, ever. Because.
Based on the NY Times story, it wouldn’t have mattered if people could carry guns on the Ohio State campus. The incident occurred in the early morning and in a maintenance area, a place and time that wouldn’t have had many people present. If the murdered man had had a gun with him all he probably could have done was kill his killer in turn, and that only if he carried the gun on him at all times. (Besides the killer could have shot him in the back.)
If you just think a little bit…; yes, I know the wingnuts don’t think.
I don’t think I want every college in America to resemble an episode of “Deadwood.”
But, then again, I’m a silly Liberal, and I don’t want my large, medium, and small cities looking like “Deadwood” either.
Those of you in the small “American Heartland” towns, feel free to fire at will. Just leave the rest of us the Hell out of it…
Gee, I bet they weren’t using that argument at the time of Kent State…
Two sides to this coin. Allowing students/staff to carry weapons will not prevent a nut like this from killing. Passing laws which prohibit guns on campus will not prevent a nut like this from killing.
If there are ways of preventing this kind of sensless violence, it’s in talking – or providing counselling or intervention at the workplace earlier..
