    But some of the blame also must rest with President Obama, who famously praised Reagan during the Democratic primary, and hasn’t used the bully pulpit to confront government-is-bad fundamentalism.

    First, to be clear, he never praised Reagan policies, he praised his ability to change the political landscape. More importantly, is it effective to counter fundamentalism with the opposite fundamentalism? I see Obama as undermining gov’t-as-bad every chance he gets, but it’s with “gov’t can be good”, not “gov’t is good”.
