Ending the Pursuit of Happiness Order here!
I just heard a piece on local NPR about folks up in north central Nebraska who get together every year to send 50,000 valentines to the men and women serving in Afghanistan and Iraq, so none of them are forgotten even on these “smaller” holidays.
Nice thoughts and gesture by the people in north central Nebraska. I personnally hate Valentine’s day; but, it is less stressful this year because I am a retired person.
If I’m not mistaken, those folks in north central Nebraska live in a town called Valentine. Very nice little farm town that does a whopping postmark business every February 14th.
Kate, I was a bit snoozy when I heard the story early this morning, so I didn’t catch the town, but it makes perfect sense that it’d be Valentine. (I live way down in Lincoln, where our big day was the 12th.)
