"Barbara O’Brien’s wide-ranging account of Zen history is conveyed with a master storyteller’s ability to keep the forest from getting lost in a myriad of trees. Wearing her scholarship lightly, she blends just the right amount of skepticism about her hagiographic sources with a deep appreciation for the Dharma." — Barry Magid, author of

Ending the Pursuit of Happiness Order here!
Too bad it wasn’t an Army boot (U.S.).
And he still doesn’t get it.
“He’s a criminal….and not even the good kind what does drugs and drive-bys”

Nice to see that the Iraqi journalist corps has more balls than ours. David Gregory, et al. never even hurled a spitball, despite all the lies, contempt, and criminality.
Is that journalist being tortured at Abu Ghraib now?
I wish he would have beaned him…
I remember hearing that in Arab culture being stepped on is considered an insult. Remember hearing all those stories about how Saddam Hussein actually had George Bush the First sewn into a hotel’s carpet so people could step on him all day long?
That said, if the Iraqi government were really legitimate, why didn’t they arrest George W. Bush? Clearly its not a legitimate government.
“This is a farewell kiss, you dog!” LOL
What is striking is the disparity between the significance of this happening and the reaction of Bush (and also the press). This was an (literally) hurling insults at this war criminal, not an assassination attempt. Well deserved insults I might add. Should anyone really be surprised?
The best part is that Maliki doesn’t even flinch (and even tries to catch one of the shoes).
Is that journalist being tortured at Abu Ghraib now?
2008’s version of the Chinese “tank man” with the shopping bags? (To this day, no one’s sure what happened to him….)
What;s the highest Medal of Honor we bestow on a foreign patriot or dignitary for courage above & beyond the call of duty?
What would be hysterical at the next press conference in the US (if Bush has one) would be if all journalists show up barefoot.
They throw the shoes at him in Baghdad, ‘hope we throw the book at him when he gets back.
What a fitting end to boy wonder’s reign of terror and incompetence. What a hoot! – getting a shoe thrown at it while scrumming to prop up it’s tin-pot-dictator-puppet-pal al-Maliki while splainin’ (defending?) his moral failure of a war. By committing this act, one of Iraq’s own journalists pronounces enough is enough so perhaps there is hope after all. Like the Bernard Madoff story this story exemplifies where the ruling class have lead us! RUIN! The Madoff story is a stunning development which further weakens confidence while highlighting the craziness that seems to be going on everywhere. Investors worldwide are wondering what other shoes are left to drop on wall st given the trillions in derivatives and Alt-A mortgages yet to unwind. At least Bush was lucky not to get hit by one. The boy is an excellent ducker. He’s had so much practice that I’d be totally surprised if he actually got hit. Now he can go back to measuring drapes and picking out paint for his new mansion in Houston.
I’ve been posting the following at Canadian national newspaper forums in Canada and at Canadian blogs since yesterday in an attempt to dispel the new memes and “war on the autoworkers” being waged by the right (wing) nuts. We have these in Canada too!
————————–
What caused this economic crisis?
2008-2012 economic crisis has nothing to do with auto workers. Auto workers are a convenient scapegoat! Like many North Americans, the auto workers are victims of massive disinformation campaigns orchestrated by some of the SAME VESTED INTERESTS who got us here? Why are they doing that? So that they can DEFLECT BLAME, destroy unions, roll back wages and destroy the middle class. Human Rights may be next! Auto Workers are only a small piece of the collateral damage. The world that is coming will be very different from the post-consumer world that we’re leaving behind.
Canada will not escape this.
