It’s not soon enough. Unfortunately his slime trail of fear and suspicion will remain. Both Bush and Cheney have done more to destroy the fabric of American’s lives than any terrorists could ever do. He’s an intellectual bottom feeder who possesses absolutely no understanding that we have power in choosing the type of world in which we live.
Any person who has achieved true greatness in the eyes of mankind have allied themself with hope and possiblity rather than fear and restriction. Bush just didn’t measure up to what a man can be…and I’ll be glad so see him go.
I am going to wander off-topic a little, though GW is responsible for anupturn he has not gotten credit for. Voter involvement. The last debate brought record ratings for CNN. Some of this might be attributed to concens about he economy, but as I recall, the last Republican debate also brought high ratings.Voter tunrout in the primaries has been high, to the point where they were scrambling for extra paper ballots.Republican turnout has been lower than the last primary, but in this round of primaries, Independents have never swung such a heavy club.I like that because I trust the Dem Party machine about as much as I trust GW himself. The last debate was as lively as any I can recall, and I am not young. I saw something else in the debate; the candidates were pulling no punches. (I have seen ‘debates’ that seemed as spontanious as pro wrestling.) The result is better message delivery; they are all making each other sharper, driven more to substance and less to posturing. But I am marginally off-topic. GW should get credit. For a variety of reasons, the war, the economy, trade, jobs, oil prices, taxes, wiretapping, the Constitution, torture, global warming.. people are getting involved in a variety of ways for a variety of reasons.. but they are getting involved. No greater threat to the plans of a despot is there than an informed, involved foting population
“One year from this very moment, someone other than George Bush will be sliding behind that antique desk in the Oval Office. In embassies and outposts that fly the Stars and Stripes, photographs of a face other than Bush’s will be going up on the walls.
Maybe one year from now we won’t be so fulfilled by our “leaders”. Maybe one year from now the president will be a public servant. Maybe one year from now the American people will believe in something. Maybe one year from now we will have another Clinton, and we will ask: maybe 4 years from now?
