"Barbara O’Brien’s wide-ranging account of Zen history is conveyed with a master storyteller’s ability to keep the forest from getting lost in a myriad of trees. Wearing her scholarship lightly, she blends just the right amount of skepticism about her hagiographic sources with a deep appreciation for the Dharma." — Barry Magid, author of

Ending the Pursuit of Happiness Order here!
What a pathetic little chimp. Every time I think my opinion of him has hit rock bottom, he drives it to a new low.
More flags, we need more flags behind the president and Mr Blair.
Just like fuzzy dice or paintings on velvet, just one won’t cut it.
Asshole in chief is not enough of an insult, he is the dumbest person to lead a country in history.
Brings us back to to the poppy post..

” the true measure of a man is how well he handles victory and defeat “
Oh, and of the two of them..Blair is the more accomplished weasel. The next best thing to a solid reality is a good old fashioned dose of theory.
Oh, I want fuzzy dice in the background. And plastic hula dancers. That would be just the thing.

Thank ya, thank ya very much.
Blair said that he would travel to the Middle East to prove that the U.S. and Britain have an even handed approach to the Palestinians.
It seems that “fairness” and its equivalents have been off-limits when discussing the approach to the Palestinian/Israeli crisis. The administration has affirmed its commitment our ally, when the commitment should be to U.S. interests and to bring peace to the Middle East through an equitable resolution. The solution will not satisfy the parties on both sides of the conflict, but will be better than the current situation.
A claim for the righteousness of one’s aims and actions, because god said they were, is not a sufficient argument to bring about a settlement. The state of Israel was created by the laws of man, and the negotiations should be guided by the law not religious beliefs.
The world can no longer abide the cruelty, prejudices, resentments, and instability of the region of two cultures not responsible enough to enter negotiations with open minds, and a laundry list of limitations they refuse to discuss. We must know the negatives before the discussions take place so that the difficult areas are dealt with first. The positive incentives can take care of themselves.
Lisa: Bart, I read about what happens to kids whose parents no longer love and cherish each other. They go through eight separate stages. Right now, I’m in Stage three, fear. You’re in Stage two, denial.
Bart: No, I’m not.
Lisa: Yes, you are!
Bart: No, I’m not!
Lisa: Yes, you are!
Bart: I’m not! I’m not! Am not!
Lisa: I stand corrected
“and plastic hula dancers”
And the boys would sing a rousing rendition of that Helen Reddy classic “You And Me Against The World”.
I notice he never seriously acknowleged that things are as bad in Iraq as the ISG report says they are. He joked that things are “bad”, but the implication was that he only said it to please the reporter. Ha ha. Then he went on to say it was “tough” (said it three times … he’s not a decider, he’s a repeater!). Tough is not the same thing. It’s his old “it’s going to take hard work” speech again. He never acknowleged the findings of the ISG report!
I know I’m only stating the obvious, but I think we’ve let him get away with too many language games (e.g. always makes sure to say “9/11” and “terrorist” in the same sentence with “Saddam Hussein”…) and it’s time to call him on it.
The reporter asked a tough question, but he fell short on the follow-up. After Bush’s response he should have asked, “So you’re saying it’s tough, as in ‘a difficult task that can be accomplished with a great deal of effort’, but you’re not saying things are ‘bad and deteriorating’, as in a situation that has truly gotten out of control, and may not be winnable at all? Which is it, Mr. President?”
(e.g. always makes sure to say “9/11″ and “terrorist†in the same sentence with “Saddam Husseinâ€â€¦)
Yeah, that because he’s been pre-programed with stock statements like a Chatty Cathy doll..just pull the string and you get…Freedoms on the march, it’s hard, they have to live up to their responsibilities, they hate us for our freedoms.
Bush is just a big bag of shit and his body language is repulsive..he exudes arrogance, and his lame speaking style should be an affront to anybody with the ability to reason. The assumption seems to be that we are not bright enough to see through his act. To me, Bush is a buffoon. His attempts to deflect criticism with humor are misplaced and ill conceived when thousands upon thousand of lives have been lost or destroyed because of his arrogance and stupidity.
Bush performs very obediently for his handlers who chose him for his puppet-ability. Today, his handlers must be kicking themselves that they didn’t choose someone with at least minimal ability to function [once in a great while] without the strings showing.
