I’m just finding out on MSNBC that Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki didn’t show up for the big whoop-dee-doo meeting he was supposed to have with President Bush in Jordan today. This could be huge.
Update: Apparently there is still a meeting on for tomorrow. I think we’ll be hearing more about this.
I think Moqtada told Maliki he wasn’t allowed to go to the meeting.
Some of this reportedly had to do with a WH memo which was ‘leaked’. The content suggested that Maliki is unaware how bad things are in Baghdad, or incapable of affecting those events. My opinion is that the ‘leak’ was planted and the statement is – Bush to Maliki: You need me. Maliki to Bush: Kiss my camel.
Pop quiz.
What common attribute will Maliki have with the a famous Country and Western singer from the early 60’s?
Hint: she sang the hit songs, walkin, after midnight, I fall to pieces, and Crazy
Answer:…They’ll both be_________.
As I think about this… the WH talking heads are saying the REAL meeting is tomorrow. The no-show today is not important. In my twisted little mind, I envision meetings all night in Jordan between Bush flunkies and Maliki flunkies. Bush is desparate to save face and a second no-show tomorrow is a public extension of the middle finger by Maliki for the world to see.
Bush had intended to tell Maliki what the ‘plan’ is. Insted Maliki is now telling Bush what the plan is. This would be funny if it was not so tragic.
