Over the past few days several bloggers, including Taylor Marsh and Bob Geiger, have discussed the recent swift-boat campaign against John Murtha.
Last week Sean-Paul Kelley of the Agonist reported that Murtha’s Republican opponent in the November elections, Diane Irey, has teamed up with some of the old “swift boat” crew to smear Jack Murtha. One of crewpersons, an operative named Amanda Doss, set up a web site called Murthalied.com from which to spread smears. Kelley included Doss’s email address in his post.
Now Raw Story reports that Doss’s site went “live” early so that she could post some of the hateful email she received. Apparently she thought she was proving a point.
Well, says Taylor Marsh, they can post emails, and we can post emails. Taylor’s collection of fan mail from righties makes the notes Doss posted seem almost affectionate.
And I nominate this little beauty for the nasty prize.
However, I would like to gently suggest that one does not have to send abusive emails to people one does not like. And it is possible to express disagreement without calling the person with whom you disagree a bleeping bleeping bleep. I know I’m bucking conventional wisdom here, but I still think I’m right.

This seems to be a case of “look at the terrible things I said about a decorated war vet”, isn’t it shocking people said terrible things to me about it?………Pardon me for a minute while I try to get my jaw off of the floor….what the bleep did this person expect to hear from readers?Did this person expect to be respected for disrespecting another human being?NO… this person wrote about Murtha KNOWING it would cause that reaction….some people LOVE to create situations for themselves where they are the victim……what else can you do when someone acts like a piece of shit but invite them to go lay in the yard????..
This isn’t about “disagreeing” this is about someone attacking another person ….a person who has served this country with honor(something I bet the writer has NEVER done), then crying like a baby when attacked themselves…it seems to me Karma is a bitch sometimes…..
Jack Murtha was just fine as long as he carried the water for bush, but as soon as he stopped kissing GOP ass he became a target of petty frightened small minded people who lack the mental ability to hear anything but dear leaders words…it’s not about Murtha…it’s about their own bruised ego’s… drown Murtha out before everyone else realizes what asses the right has made of themselves….Murtha further proves what I have said about righties all along “when you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything”… you can even con some people into thinking you are a victim…..boo hoo… whine rightie,whine!
Sorry,,, but it is past time for swift boaters to be swift boated themselves….if they get their feelings hurt in the process to damn bad…..I don’t like the letters some people send to others but bet your sweet ass I will defend to our death others right to say it.

I know this idea cannot work, but I’ve long felt two things. 1. Only those capable of giving birth should have a say in women’s reproductive health issues and 2. only those that have been to war can lead us into a war.
And the reason for the incivility? Inability to think crically? It certainly is frustrating to be attacked personnally when you are trying to discuss ideas.
For shame, a soldier picking on another soldier (especiallly to support a non-soldier!) THIS is definately “supporting the troops” –Republican Style. The spin on everything sickens me less than the folks who actually believe all this crap (and they do!) Who the crap is Diane Iray? A commissioner from nowhere? I guess she thinks she may know more about war and stuff than Murtha….I do think however that her husband is in some sort of Cheney-esque profiteering scam…That isn’t really news though…Murtha’s war record is…what a screwed up world.
“Swift Boat Veterans for Themselves” ignored a couple issues CRITICAL to our troops at war during the run-up to the 2004 election.
First, they sat silent knowing full well that Bush NEVER USED the number of troops he incessantly claims his generals asked for. Turkey would not allow the 40,000 troops of the 4th to pass through and participate in Bush’s invasion of Iraq.
Bush waged war KNOWING our troops were 40,000 short.
Second, these same Lookatme! Showboaters sat silent when this very same troop shortage resulted in America’s greatest tragedy of the war in Iraq.
EVERYONE who’s ever gone through basic training knows that when you find your enemies weapons, you keep them secure.
Hundreds of tons of high explosives that our troops had captured at Al Qaqaa were abandoned specifically due to troops shortages, CREATED by Bush’s incompetence in war.
These explosive stolen from Al Qaqaa are the weapons that have been used to blow our troops into too many parts to count each and every day of this war.
When some pasty butt wimp, like Larry Bailey of bootmurtha.com, decides to pass his “gimme’ some money” collection plate to support his concept of patriotism for a circus tent performance at The Cambria County War Memorial on October 1st of this year …
Some would say there’s nothing more patriotic than putting a moron who’s never given a hoot about our troops at war (or he would have spoke up about those 40k troops left behind and Al Qaqaa IN 2004) in his proper place …he’s a coward.
To make matters even MORE entertaining, Larry Bailey actually thinks having John O’Neill, the original Lookatme! Show Boater, as his surprise guest speaker is a feather in his cap.
You may not like the stand John Murtha has been making, but for anyone who supports our troops at war, there’s no way to respond to these idiot Swiftboaters’ Reunion in Murtha’s home town of Johnstown, Pa, than a chorus of Bronx raspberries.
I hope this clarifies.
