"Barbara O’Brien’s wide-ranging account of Zen history is conveyed with a master storyteller’s ability to keep the forest from getting lost in a myriad of trees. Wearing her scholarship lightly, she blends just the right amount of skepticism about her hagiographic sources with a deep appreciation for the Dharma." — Barry Magid, author of

Ending the Pursuit of Happiness Order here!
Shit! Roger Ebert was the coolest. I like his movie reviewing, but I really got to enjoy reading his blog over the past few years. I will miss him.
I agree, he was the coolest. He faced terrible physical challenges toward the end, and always seemed to stay vibrant and happy. RIP, Roger.
And, like Frank Rich (excepting, of course, his “political†marriage to MoDo for a while there) with theatre, and now politics, Ebert was as astute an observer of politics, as he was of film.
RIP, Roger.
A life well lived.
And we learned a lot from you.
That’s not a bad epitaph – one that I doubt I’ll never receive.
I liked him very much.
Sad to see him go..I admired his strength in carrying on the way he did up until the end.
