Stephen Colbert’s first PAC ad:
This really is brilliant. I’ve heard some complaints that it could backfire, but in a way I think backfiring is kind of the point.
Idiots Abound, everywhere — the British riots are blamed on “liberal dogma.” When will we learn that when groups of people feel utterly disenfranchised, they tend to no longer care about following the establishment’s rules?
Nate Silver says a Walker recall election could be close.

Update: Stop the Environment!
Update: It appears Pearry is running.
Colbert is always spot-on!
I’d like to see him meet with some fake Muslims who are sitting around with cartoon bombs and sparkling fuses talking about donating to Rove’s PAC, and he tries to convert them to giving money to his, instead. But have them insist that Rove’s way will destroy American much faster.
Or, an Ahmadinejad look-alike who talks about donating to any PAC the Koch brothers are affiliated with, and how he wants America to be just like Iran – a country where there are a lot of poor people ruled by a handful of very rich and powerful ones.
Or the Chinese cackling about sending money from our bonds to Conservative PAC’s to help kill the American economy by outsourcing more jobs over there.
As much as I love John Stewart, I think Colbert is edgier, funnier, and hits the target more often. And what he does, play a Consrvative, is much more difficult to pull off than Stewart mocking the news.
I’m also starting to think that Stewart is taking himself a little bit too seriously lately.
Colberts Super-PAC is a brilliant way to show how corruptable our election system is. And how badly we need to get the money out of elections, or this country is toast.
I can’t stress how much I’d recommend never reading anything by the Daily Mail ever again. It’ll only make you mad. As Marcus Brigstocke once said: “I read the Mail on a Monday so I’m angry enough to write for the rest of the week.” It’s a vicious, bigoted rag whose editorial line is distinguishable from FOX News only by it being more rabidly anti-liberal than it is pro-Republican.
Though it does provide Richard Littlejohn with enough money for him to stay away from our island shores, so there’s at least that.
Most of us have learned that. The thing is, as soon as the word “feel” creeps into a conversation, the Pavlovian conservative reflex is to shour, “F*CK THOSE PEOPLE AND THEIR FEELINGS!”
Although I’ve seen ads for Colbert’s Super PAC, I haven’t delved into them, and so the video didn’t make any sense to me. Late to the joke, I guess.
America in Decline, by Noam Chomsky.
moonbat — Colbert is making a mockery of the Citizens United decision by forming an actual legal PAC accepting real donations. The ad suggests he intends to mess with the Republican nominating process.
To get how people ‘feel’ when utterly disenfranchised, read accounts of what the Russian peasantry did to the Russian landed gentry once the Revolution was up and running – tore them apart, literally, limb from limb and other debaucheries that are not fit to print.
Starving people, people who have suffered injustices for sometimes generations at the hands of their exploiters definitely could not give a shit about ‘establishment’ rules.
Thanks, Barbara. I didn’t get it, either.
Re update: Rick Perry is running.
Rick Perry quotes General Sheridan in his opening response in his interview. I just thought that it would be interesting to share with readers here that history also records the quote..”The only good Indian is a dead Indian” to General Sheridan. So if any of you are ever involved in a game of trivia pursuit and need to quote a great American…you can use Sheridan’s dead Indian quote.
Sheridan was an absolute peach.
The ad suggests he intends to mess with the Republican nominating process.
This sounds like the fake Democrats who ran in Wisconsin.
DNC web ad: Mitt Romney and the Luckiest People in the World.
moonbat…Great web add!
OT…But I want to express my joy that such a despicable man got a good taste of justice, and that we get to see the fruits of the Repuglican agenda of privatization. Cash for kids..It doesn’t matter if young lives are destroyed so longs as some capitalist creep gets to fill his coffers. If I were the one to pass sentence on this slim ball judge he would have been publicly beheaded…

Here’s Lawrence O’Donnell on this PAC ad:

It’s less than 5 minutes – and that included the ad itself.
